Jama Pantel:

You don't need a bigger audience, you need the right one, and your real growth starts when you stop trying to reach everyone. Hey, y'all, it's your podcast bestie Jama coming at you again. And today we're talking about one of the most common traps I see women fall into when building their personal brand Thinking they have to reach everyone. More followers, more engagement, more visibility. It all sounds good until it becomes the reason. You're overwhelmed, second-guessing everything and losing your message in the noise. Because, trust me, that was me.

Jama Pantel:

When I became a run influencer, my audience size grew exponentially. I suddenly was close to 3,000 plus followers on my personal Instagram page, and trust me when I say they didn't care anything about me. They only liked or engaged when I shared running content and, if I'm being honest, that wasn't just who I was, and so I let them go. I deleted close to 2,500 followers from my personal Instagram and, even though I am taking a break, that is what burned me out Seriously. So let's break it all down. Here's something I wish someone told me early on. You don't need a massive audience to build a powerful brand. You don't need to go viral. You don't need millions of followers. What you need is the right people, the ones who see you, the ones who get what you do, the ones who tell their friends to buy your offers and those who stay for the long haul. I'd take 100 aligned followers, over 10,000 strangers, any day. Trust me, I remember when I was stuck in the numbers game, like I said, I'd post something honest and get crickets. Then I'd post something trendy in the running world and I'd get attention, but the people it attracted, they weren't my people. So I started second guessing myself, diluting my message, trying to be more palatable and polished for them and be on brand for the brand I was pushing which should have been me the whole time and it felt so hollow when I did that. So what finally changed? I stopped chasing everyone and started speaking directly to the people I wanted to reach, those ready to lead, not just scroll or not just like my running content.

Jama Pantel:

I know, I know we're conditioned to think numbers equals success, but here's the truth. A small audience that trusts you will convert faster than a large one that doesn't care. The right people don't need convincing, they just need clarity. When you speak clearly, not cleverly, you start to stand out. Trying to be everything to everyone waters down your authority, but when you get bold about who you are and who you're not, you become magnetic. Here's how you can tell if your audience is aligned. They respond to your real stories, not just the polished ones. They share your content with their people without being asked. They repeat your words back to you in messages, in conversations and on calls.

Jama Pantel:

That's brand alignment, y'all, and it starts with showing up authentically and clearly. So if you're tired of chasing everyone, here's what I want you to do. Narrow your focus. Who do you really want to help? Get specific with your content. Let it repel the wrong people and pull the right ones in. Engage with the people already paying attention.

Jama Pantel:

Small circles build strong roots, and that holds true in real life, too. And why I keep my circle so tight. Because when you stop trying to impress everyone, you start building something that actually lasts. So if you're ready to show up more clearly, I've got a few resources to help you: my 30 days of personal brand prompts or strike a pose guide, or even my show up confidently on camera mini course, all designed to help you refine your message and connect with the right people without the pressure to be on all the time. And you can find all of that on my website at jamapantel. com, and I'll link it in the show notes below. Trust me when I say you weren't meant to speak to everyone. You were meant to lead someone. So stop diluting your message to please the masses. Start speaking directly to the people you're here to serve, because your audience, they don't need you to be louder, they need you to be clearer. So keep showing up, keep living the whole picture and until next time I'll see y'all soon. Bye for now.
